About Mary

Mary Szubiak is a licensed acupuncturist in New York and New Jersey. She is nationally certified in Oriental medicine, Acupuncture, and Herbs by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Mary also is a DONA-trained childbirth doula.

Mary is committed to helping people with Chinese medicine and aims to provide her patients with the best possible care. Mary believes that the good health comes from a life in balance. The mind, body, spirit, and diet sometimes fall out of balance and that is when illness and discomfort arise. With acupuncture, herbs, and nutritional recommendations, Mary gently encourages the mind and body back into balance. Her goal is to maintain balance (health) for all of her patients.

Mary graduated with honors from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) in NYC with a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine. She spent more than 4,050 hours in the classroom and under clinical supervision. Her studies included both eastern and western medicine, including Chinese and Japanese style acupuncture, oriental medicine theory, qi gong, tui na, eastern and western nutrition, anatomy, physiology, and orthopedic-neurological exam.

She clinically trained at a Senior’s Health Clinic in downtown San Diego while she attended classes at the PCOM San Diego campus; New York University’s Initiative for Women with Disabilities at the Hospital for Joint Diseases where she treated women with Multiple Sclerosis, thyroid issues, Fibromyalgia, hypertension and glaucoma; and Lutheran Medical Center’s Labor and Delivery floor where she used her doula and acupuncture skills to assist women in labor and studied effective tui na and acupressure points to use during various stages of labor.

Prior to discovering her path as acupuncturist, herbalist and doula, Mary worked in the financial services industry. She received a Masters of Science in Management of Information Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology and earned her undergraduate degree from Providence College’s Liberal Arts Honors Program.
